What's the Weather?

PLAYDOH

WORKSHEETS

                             BE THE WIND!

We gave the children dancing scarves and turned on some nature sounds. We pretended to be like the wind, dance and wave the scarves around.  We explained that breezy means that there is a light, gentle wind - then told them it is getting gusty, and they moved their scarves more vigorously.

WIND PAINTING

The children made their own 'wind' by blowing through a straw to make beautiful artwork. We set out bowls of liquid water color paint and large sheets of paper to practice on. (tip: use glossy finger paper. It allows the paint to move more easily).

Lions Mane

Since this is March I talked to the kids about the Lion and Lamb reference.
Winter comes in like a LION and goes out like a LAMB.

First you wrap strips of paper around a crayon to make it curl.
Then you glue the strips to the lions mane.

Then you ROAR!

Lions, Lambs and Leprechauns

Today we played a game related to March coming in like a Lion and going out like a Lamb.
I cut out small pictures of lions, lambs and leprechauns.
Put the pieces in a bag.
Have a child pull out one item at a time.
If it's a Lion - ROAR
If it's a Lamb - BAAA
If it's a Leprechaun - LEAP
~
This project was a fun game for the children.
They colored the lambs head and pasted it onto the top of construction paper.
Then they glued the box of letters under the lamb.

I cut out the letters into individual squares.
I showed the children how match the square letters on to their lamb paper.
