Sundae's

Ice cream sundae's are always a fun summer-time treat.
To make these we started out with a coffee filter.
The n tissue paper for the ice cream.
The kids choose pink for 'Strawberry Ice Cream'.
Top with 'Chocolate Syrup' or in this case: brown paint.
Next add sprinkles.
I would have preferred to use the real sprinkles but I forgot to pick them up at the store. Instead we used glitter. The kids didn't seem to mind.

Don't forget to put the red pom-pom 'cherry' on top.
Doesn't that look yummy!

We {tried to} make Ice Cream

I found a recipe for home made ice-cream to try in the classroom.
The kids helped me mix all the ingredients in a bag.

Then they SHOOK the bag..
and SHOOK it...
and SHOOK it!
We taste tested the ice cream..

BLUCK!

It was awful!
Thank goodness I bought vanilla ice cream as a back up!

Painted Ice Cream Craft.
Take a circle template and let the children paint inside the template.
Place a triangle on the page to use as a cone.

Flipping for Summer

Flip Flops are a common shoe to wear in the summer.  The kids had fun coloring and designing their own flip flops.

Watermelon Paper Plate Craft

Cut a paper plate in half. Paint the bottom green...
...and the inside red to look like watermelon.  When dry, add black seeds.

Glue edges together to make a pocket.  I used clothes pins around the edges to hold in place until the glue dried.

Bee Hive

We took bubble wrap and dipped it in yellow paint.  After pressing it on construction paper is will look similar to honey combs.  The kids colored the outside of a hive. Added bees to their honeycomb and placed that picture on the inside of the hive.
After a bit of bribing, they agreed to taste honey.

And they liked it! Even asked for more!
