Polar Bear

Keeping in theme with the Arctic, we made a polar bear!

Book:
'Knut' by Craig and Julianna Hatkoff.
This is a true story about a tiny polar bear cub who was rejected by his mother, then raised by his zoo keeper.

Craft Supplies:
Glue
Paper plate
Cotton balls
Small black circles (eye)
Large black circles (nose)
White 1/2 circles (ears)

Instructions:
Glue on ears, eyes and nose to the paper plate.
Next glue the cotton balls around the eyes and nose.
It's that simple!

Winter Eskimo's

We have begun to do a unit about the Polar region.  The first topic we learned about is Eskimo's.

Book:
"Mama, Do You Love Me?" by Barbara M. Joosee
It is a lovely story about a parent's love and the Arctic.

Craft supplies:
Paper plate
Light blue paint or a blue marker
Cotton balls
Glue
Markers

Instructions:
Have the children paint or color blue around the rim of the paper plate.
Next, have the children glue cotton balls around the rim of the paper plate.
Draw a face in the middle of the paper plate and add hair.
Now the children have made an Eskimo!

Valentine's Day Craft

You will want to use a harder paper such as card stock or a canvas.
Make a heart shape with masking tape.
Use valentine's colors to paint on the paper.
When done, carefully peel the masking tape off.

Viola!
