Cowboy Boots and Horseshoes

Rhinestone Boots!  The kids loved adding the 'BLING BLING'.

We talked about shoes.  People wear shoes, but so do horses!  You should have seen the eyes of the girls and boys giggle.  They thought horse wearing shoes was the funniest thing!
We also galloped all over the house.

Cowboy Theme

This week we will be focusing on Cowboys.  We sang a cowboy song that will be repeated all week.

Today we talked about Cactuses and how prickly they are to touch.
To represent the prickly parts we glued rice onto the cactus cutouts.  You can add sand too.

Bead Bracelets

Placing beads on a string is good motor coordination for pre-schoolers.

Toddlers get to put beads in containers, also good for motor skills.

My first grader made a very, very long necklace.

Beach Day

Following directions is important: have the children draw a sun and beach ball on their picture.

Stolen Treasure

Stolen Treasure
Arrr! Arrr! Look what we found:
A treasure chest buried in the ground!
Pirate [child's name] came along one day.
[She] took [number] gold coins and ran away!

Stolen Treasure with a twist.
Cut out gold coins ahead of time. During circle time I had the children chant the above poem and handed a child a few coins at the appropriate time. That child would stand up, race around the circle of children sitting down (similar to duck, duck, goose), and then sit back down again.

Making Treasure Chests full of gold was pretty fun too!
