Confetti Eruptions!

Ring in the new year with confetti science play! Kids can enjoy New Year’s Eve too even if they don’t get to stay up till midnight, or have an early celebration filled with confetti fun. Try confetti science eruptions and let the kids make a little mess for a special occasion.

Nothing says New Year’s Eve like tons of flying confetti!
Supplies we used: baking soda, confetti, distilled white vinegar, and turkey droppers.

Mix together the baking soda with the confetti.  Place in a clear cup so the kids can see the confetti bubbling over in the best way.  Add the vinegar a few drops at a time and watch your creation bubble over!

Have a Happy New Year!

Salt Art Fireworks {Toddler Art}

In spirit of New Years Eve we decided to make fireworks. We used the glue to draw firework shapes on the black and white paper before covering them in salt and then shaking off the excess very gently.  Then used food coloring, but the artwork came out too dark. Next time I will use water colors.

Even so, the salt almost glistens like real fireworks.  Salt art is so much fun to make, but beware, it really is more about the process of the art, as when it dries it will fall off.

You will need: salt, glue, black and white paper, food coloring or water colors.  You'll also need droppers if you decide to use water colors.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

It wouldn't be Christmas without Rudolph the red nose reindeer. I mean, who would guide the sleigh?  The kids made sure that Rudolph (and Santa) would find their homes on Christmas Eve by making Magic Reindeer Dust to sprinkle on their lawn.  I have no doubt that Rudolph will find his way!

 Magic Reindeer Dust

Shredded Carrots, Oats, Sprinkles, Glitter
…and anything else you might want to add!

I made my own tags to attach but I also found at TheTomKatStudio cute pre-made tags.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus

Every little boy and girl gets excited about opening presents from Santa

I get excited about making cookies. This year I let the toddler's put the cookie dough on the tray.  What a mess! But they loved every minute!!

And the cookies tasted really great!

Christmas Wreath & Poinsettias

This is one of the easiest crafts to make during the busy Christmas holiday.
I took a plate and lightly traced a circle.  Then I gave the kids a sponge to dip into green paint. They sponged where the circle was to create a wreath affect. Then we added red finger prints to make little holy balls.  I added a bow using clip art I found on the internet.

Oh, Christmas Tree

While everyone is thinking of Christmas and Santa Claus, December is also great time to focus on Christmas trees.  Christmas is an exciting time of year for children and adults alike.  Going on a Christmas tree hunt is one of the fondest memories I have with my three boys.  Of course cutting down the tree is the hardest part (in my husband's opinion) and tying it to the car, but when bringing it home  it's hard to hide the excitement bubbling over during the car ride home!

After bringing the Christmas tree home, the fun begins by DECORATING!

Feathered Friends

Kids love giving treats to their feathered friends. it is amazing how quiet and still a two and three old can be - completely memorized.

We made bird seed ornaments to hang outside for our birds to eat and have winter treat.

These molded bird seed ornaments are a lot of fun to make, and very inexpensive. You may already have all the materials you need in your home - we were able to make gifts for all the wonderful friends in our life for around $3.

We also had a few handprint crafts making cardinals and owls. You can scroll down to see these cute crafts.
This was messy and perfect for toddlers to get gooey with. I found this recipe HERE if you're brave enough to try with your toddler.
