Candy Heart Game

I laminated a 'Valentine Heart Candy Card'.

I gave each child a box of Candy Hearts.

They had to match the right color up to the color heart on the card.

It was fun eating the candy hearts too!

Yarn Heart

Dress up your windows with Valentine cheer! Help your child create this beautiful heart creation made out of wire and yarn. Better make more than one though -- you'll want to give these away as gifts and keep a few for yourself.

What You Need:
Yarn 
Bendable wire 
Wire cutters 
Pliers 
Scissors
Hot glue gun

What You Do:

1. Help your child bend the wire into a heart. She should do this by first bending the wire in half before curving the ends inwards.
   
2. Cut off any excess wire with the wire cutters.
   
3. Have her twist the ends together to keep the heart intact.
   
4. Have her begin wrapping her heart with yarn. Encourage her to start at the top of the heart where
   the wire ends are twisted together. Make sure she wraps each loop of yarn snugly.
   
5. Have an adult carefully use the hot glue gun to dot the wire as she wraps it with yarn. This will ensure the yarn stays on the wire.
   
6. Let her continue to wrap the yarn until the inside of the heart is filled with criss-crossing loops of
   yarn.
   
7. Help her tie one piece of yarn to the top of the heart.
   
8. Now she's ready to hang her Valentine craft!

Queen of Hearts

Preschool royalty abounds when each child makes this regal craft! 

Supplies:
yarn (hair)
red construction paper (robe)
aluminum foil (crown)
flesh-toned construction paper cut into a circle (head)
glue
crayons

Steps:
Decorate and then glue the robe to construction paper.
Draw a face on the circle and glue to the robe.
Glue yarn to the head.
Glue the crown to the head.
Glue hearts to the paper.

The Biggest Valentine Ever!

Heart Chain

Spread the love this Valentine's Day with a sweet and charming paper heart chain. Perfect for young hands eager for an artsy project, this chain will brighten up any room with its Valentine shades of red, white and pink!

What You Need:
Red construction paper
Pink construction paper
White construction paper 
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Mini stapler


What You Do:

1. Place a sheet of red construction paper vertically on a table. Fold the top of the paper down to meet the bottom of the paper. The paper should now be folded in half.
2. Measure and cut half an inch strips.
3. Grab both ends of the strip before folding them inward. You should see the shape of a heart form.
   
4. Carefully staple the ends together.
   
5. To create her chain, string the next strip of paper through the already stapled heart before
   stapling the ends together.
   
6. Repeat this process until all of her paper strips are used up. 
   Hang her heart chain where everyone can enjoy it! 
   

Penguins

January we spent time talking about Penguins.

I incorporated different shapes within the crafts.

I cut out little penguins and had them laminated.

Attach them to gloves and sing a penguin song!

"One little, two little, three little penguins.

Four little, five little, six little penguins.

Seven little, eight little, nine little penguins.

Ten penguins dancing on the ice."

We also did different activities with the letter P.

I for Ice Cream and Igloos

The Igloo packet is a story based upon 'The Mitten' by Jan Brett.

'The Igloo' is a story about arctic animals going into an Igloo to take a rest.

We made our own igloos with square 'ice' blocks.

The children decorate the capital letter I with stickers and stamps.

We also talked about thing that began with the letter I.
