Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS

To make your own Green Eggs and Ham Magic Foam, you'll need the following:
2 cups Baking Soda
1 tsp Dish Soap (I used Dawn)
2 tbsp Salt
Water
Vinegar

In a bowl or other container, measure out two cups of baking soda and add 2 Tablespoons of salt.  Mix throughly (little hands are very good at this).  Add 1 tsp soap and mix it into the dough well.  The dough should look crumbly.  Next add 8 Tablespoons of water. (I added green watercolor for the egg affect). If your dough will form a ball, you're all set.  If it's still too dry and crumbly add water 1 Tablespoon at a time until you have a dough that molds into a ball.  It will not feel like playdough - it's more smooshy and crumbly than that.  But it should form into and hold a ball.

To make your own Hop on Pop magic corn, you'll need the following:
a clear glass container
popping corn
2 1/2 – 3 cups of water
2 Tbsp. of baking soda
6 Tbsp. of white vinegar
yellow food coloring (optional)

Fill your jar with water and add a couple drops of food coloring.
Add your baking soda and stir well until it is all dissolved.
Add a small handful of popping corn kernels.
Add the vinegar and watch the corn start to hop up and down!
This corn will hop up and down repeatedly in your container for over an hour.  It’s so much fun to watch (mesmerizing would be the best word to describe it).
